The City of Columbia’s Forestry and Beautification Department maintains City trees, gateways and landscaped medians to ensure safety and to increase the quality of life for residents and visitors.
The Solid Waste and Recycling Division provides collection and disposal within the corporate city limits for garbage, recycling and yard waste. The division also provides services for special events such as St. Patrick’s Day Celebration in Five Points, the Greek Festival, Famously Hot New Year and neighborhood clean-ups.
The Street Maintenance Division is responsible for the upkeep and repair of the roads, as well as providing information relating to the streets of Columbia.
Traffic Engineering focuses on the maintenance and installation of traffic signals and street lighting, as well as traffic control.
Animal Services is dedicated to compassionate public service, promoting responsible pet ownership, and strengthening the bond between people and pets through education, outreach, and support.
The Climate Protection Action Committee (CPAC) is a volunteer, advisory group established by the City of Columbia to identify ways the City can reduce greenhouse gases.
